Acura turns 30

Acura has a new ad celebrating its 30th anniversary, featuring the same narrator and visual style the brand used in its Super Bowl spot in January.

"When you’re young, you do crazy things," said actor Michael B. Jordan, the star of Creed, at the beginning of the one-minute ad for the Honda-owned brand. "You do wild things."

The ad, titled "30 years young," has shots of Acura vehicles interspersed with Honda personnel in the factory and the research and development center.

Acura was the first luxury brand developed by a major Japanese automaker. Today, most of the brand's engineering and manufacturing takes place in Ohio, and most of its sales are to customers in North America. This includes the NSX supercar, which is now available for order.

The new ad's focus on youth is no accident. Acura has chosen in recent months to highlight that it is the top-selling luxury brand to the millennial generation. Much of this sales leadership has to do with price point, with several Acura models among the most affordable luxury sedans and crossovers.
